Giorgio Armani costs more because it is the house’s main luxury line, so the price pays for fine cloth, careful soft tailoring, prime shops and the name, not a guarantee of better quality.
This guide explains the price and how to judge it, such as:
- A dated example of what a Giorgio Armani suit costs
- What the soft, unstructured cut asks of the maker
- Who owns and runs Armani since Giorgio Armani’s death
- How Armani Privé, Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, EA7 and Armani Exchange differ
- Which Armani line suits the garment you need
- Criteria for deciding whether a garment is worth it
وغيرها الكثير!
Buy the garment that fits you and that you will wear often, whichever label it carries.
النقاط الرئيسية:
01Giorgio Armani is the house’s main ready-to-wear line; Emporio Armani and Armani Exchange sit at lower prices.
02Since 2018 the house has three main lines, after Armani Collezioni and Armani Jeans were folded into Emporio Armani.
03Soft tailoring relies on fit, because little padding hides a poor one.
04A high price does not prove higher quality; compare cloth, construction and fit.
Giorgio Armani is the main line of the Armani house, and its suits, jackets and knitwear are priced alongside other Italian luxury labels such as برونيلو كوسينيلي و لورو بيانا.
This guide explains what that price pays for, how the main line differs from Emporio Armani and Armani Exchange, and how to judge whether a Giorgio Armani garment is worth it for you.
Armani sits with the العلامات التجارية التراثية باهظة الثمن by price, but a price alone does not tell you how well a garment is made or whether it suits you.
What Giorgio Armani Costs
Prices vary by country, cloth and season, so treat any figure as a dated example and check the current price before you buy.
On 7 October 2026, the Italian retailer Giglio listed a Giorgio Armani single-breasted suit in virgin wool and cashmere at a full price of CAD 4,107, reduced to CAD 2,258.85 in its sale.
Emporio Armani and Armani Exchange sell at much lower prices, which is why the line named on the label matters more than the word “Armani”.
The Heritage Behind the Name
Giorgio Armani founded the company in Milan in 1975 with his partner Sergio Galeotti.
He became known for softening the tailored jacket, with less padding in the shoulders and lighter interlining, so the jacket followed the body more loosely than a structured English coat.
Armani designed Richard Gere’s costumes in the 1980 film American Gigolo, whose soft suits in muted greys, beiges and blues helped make the Armani look famous.
That relaxed tailoring and its quiet colours remain the house signature, and they fit well with what is now called رفاهية هادئة.
Armani Today: Ownership After Giorgio Armani
Giorgio Armani died on 4 September 2025, aged 91, having run the company as an independent business throughout his life.
In October 2025, the Associated Press reported that Giuseppe Marsocci had become chief executive, that Leo Dell’Orco, Armani’s long-time menswear collaborator, chairs the board and controls 40% of the voting rights, and that Silvana Armani, who leads womenswear, had become vice president.
Under the will, the Giorgio Armani Foundation holds full or bare ownership of the shares, while voting control is split between Dell’Orco (40%), the Foundation (30%) and Silvana Armani and Armani’s nephew Andrea Camerana (15% each), according to Il Sole 24 Ore and the Associated Press.
Armani’s will instructs his heirs to sell an initial 15% stake between 12 and 18 months after his death, with preference for LVMH, EssilorLuxottica or L’Oréal, and allows a larger sale or a stock-market listing later.
As of 30 September 2026, Montenapo Daily reported that talks about the 15% stake were continuing and that no agreement had been announced.
The group reported revenue of about €2.3 billion for 2024; Montenapo Daily reported direct revenue of €2.19 billion for 2025, down 2.8%; direct revenue is a narrower measure than total revenue, so the two figures are not directly comparable.
Ownership changes can affect design and production over time, so judge each new garment on its own merits rather than on the brand’s past.
ما الذي يدفعه الثمن؟
ملابس
Giorgio Armani tailoring is usually cut from fine wool, wool and cashmere blends, or blends with silk or linen, and the label lists the exact fibre content.
Fine cloth drapes softly and feels smooth, but very fine, lightweight cloth also creases and wears faster than a sturdier worsted, so choose the weight for how often you will wear the suit.
The soft cut
An unstructured jacket has little padding or stiff interlining to hide an uneven seam or a poor fit, so the cutting, sewing and pressing have to be accurate.
That is a fair reason for soft tailoring to cost more than a basic fused suit, but it is not unique to Armani: many Italian makers cut soft jackets.
Making and supply
Armani does not publish the hours of handwork in each garment, so figures seen online for labour hours, extra cloth or rejection rates cannot be checked and are best ignored.
In April 2024, a Milan court placed Giorgio Armani Operations, the group’s production company, under judicial administration after finding that a supplier had subcontracted bags and leather goods to workshops that exploited workers, as FashionUnited reported.
Armani said it had controls in place to limit abuses in its supply chain, and in February 2025 the court ended the measure early, saying the company had quickly ended its relationships with at-risk suppliers, according to Reuters.
The case concerned leather goods, not tailoring, but it shows that a luxury price does not by itself tell you how or where a garment was made.
Shops, service and the name
Some of every luxury price pays for prime shops, staff, fashion shows and advertising rather than for the garment itself.
That is true of every luxury house, and it is the main reason similar clothes can cost noticeably less from a less famous maker.
Knitwear: What Gauge and Ply Mean
Armani’s fine knitwear is a common purchase, and two terms help you compare jumpers from any brand.
مقياس: the number of needles per inch on the knitting machine; a higher gauge gives a finer, smoother knit, and a lower gauge a chunkier one, and the term applies to knitwear, not to suits.
رقائق: the number of yarns twisted together; more plies make a heavier, warmer jumper, but a higher ply is not automatically better quality.
Feel the knit, check that the seams are neat and the cuffs spring back, and read the fibre content rather than relying on the label.
How the Armani Lines Differ
Armani sells clothes under several names, and each sits at a different price.
Armani Privé: the house’s haute couture line, first shown in Paris in 2005 and mainly eveningwear for women.
جورجيو أرماني: الرئيسية جاهز للبس line, which includes the house’s tailoring and its highest ready-to-wear prices.
إمبوريو أرماني: the second line, founded in 1981, with tailoring, knitwear and casual clothes at lower prices.
EA7 Emporio Armani: the sportswear line within Emporio Armani, which has made the Italian Olympic team’s uniforms since the London 2012 Games, according to the Italian Olympic Committee.
A|X Armani Exchange: launched in the United States in 1991 as a casual line, with jeans, T-shirts and sweatshirts at mass-market prices.
The 2017 restructuring
Until 2017 the house also sold Armani Collezioni, a classic tailoring line, and Armani Jeans, a casual denim line.
In a restructuring announced in 2017 and in place from the spring and summer 2018 collections, both were folded into Emporio Armani, leaving three main lines: Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani and A|X Armani Exchange, as Business of Fashion and FashionNetwork reported.
Armani Collezioni menswear had been produced through a joint venture with زينيا formed in 2000, and older Collezioni suits and jackets are still common on the second-hand market.
Which Armani line suits what you need
Choose the line by the garment you want and what you will pay, not by what the label is supposed to say about you.
For tailoring at the house’s top ready-to-wear level: Giorgio Armani suits, jackets and fine knitwear.
For a wider range at lower prices: Emporio Armani, which covers suits and jackets as well as knitwear, casual clothes and denim.
للملابس الرياضية: EA7, which makes training and outdoor clothes.
For casual basics: A|X Armani Exchange, mainly jeans, T-shirts, sweatshirts and casual jackets.
To be sure a garment is genuine, buy from Armani shops, the Armani website or established department stores and resellers, and check the care and origin labels inside.
Is Armani a Luxury Brand?
The Giorgio Armani and Armani Privé lines are priced and sold as luxury, in the same shops and price bands as other major houses.
Emporio Armani is a second line, and Armani Exchange is a mass-market casual brand that shares the name but not the price or positioning.
Beyond clothes, the house runs hotels in Dubai’s Burj Khalifa (opened 2010) and in Milan (opened 2011) and sells furniture under Armani/Casa.
In 2016 the company pledged to stop using animal fur, in line with a wider move towards more sustainable fashion عبر الصناعة.
“Luxury” describes how a brand is priced and sold, not a guarantee that every garment is better made than a cheaper one.
Does Giorgio Armani Hold Its Value?
Clothes rarely rise in value, and second-hand Giorgio Armani and Armani Collezioni tailoring is common and usually sells for far less than new.
For a buyer, that makes the second-hand market a good way to try the house cut at a lower price, provided the garment fits or can be altered.
How long a jacket lasts depends on the cloth, how often you wear it and how you care for it, not on the brand name.
Many Armani jackets are deliberately soft, with a light internal structure, so ask how a jacket is made rather than assuming it has a full canvas.
Classic cuts and colours stay wearable for longer than garments bought for a single موسم الموضة.
Is Giorgio Armani Worth It?
Judge each garment against these criteria rather than on the label.
خط: check which line made the garment, because the Armani name covers very different prices.
قماش: read the fibre content and choose a weight that suits how often you will wear it.
البناء: look for an even shoulder, neat buttonholes, matched patterns at the seams and a lining that lies flat.
تناسب: soft tailoring relies on fit, because there is little padding to hide a jacket that is too large or too small.
الاستخدام: a navy jacket worn every week earns its price far faster than a suit kept for rare occasions.
السعر: compare with other makers of soft tailoring and with second-hand Giorgio Armani before you decide.
A high price does not prove higher quality, and a label does not change how other people judge you.
On balance, Giorgio Armani is worth considering if you like a soft, relaxed jacket, the garment fits you well and you will wear it often; if not, similar soft tailoring is available from other makers at a range of prices.
How to Wear Giorgio Armani Tailoring
The house cut suits relaxed tailoring and smart casual outfits best.
ارتداء: a navy unstructured blazer, a fine grey merino crew-neck jumper, grey wool trousers and brown suede loafers.
ارتداء: a mid-grey soft suit, a light blue shirt, a navy knitted tie and dark brown Derby shoes.
ارتداء: للمساء ملابس رسمية, a black or midnight navy dinner suit, a white dress shirt, a black silk bow tie and black patent or highly polished Oxford shoes.
ارتداء: for business casual, a navy or charcoal fine-knit polo or crew-neck, stone or grey trousers, a soft blazer and brown leather loafers.
You can mix Armani lines with other brands in one outfit; what matters is that the cloth, colour and level of formality work together.
Many men prefer plain designs with small or no logos, but logos are a matter of taste.
